Garment Show of India makes a successful debut in National Capital
The newest member of the trade fairs that aim at boosting the domestic textile and apparel industry of India, Garment Show of India (GSI) concluded on a highly positive note with over 8,000 visitors. Organized by Saina Events, the 3-day show took place on August 8-10, at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. GSI is a platform for the garment manufacturers, retailers, brands, wholesalers, distributors, traders and retail chains to enhance business by coming under one roof and networking, so as to meet potential buyers/suppliers.
The show came as a boon to North India, particularly Delhi and the adjoining areas, as they have been looking for such a platform. The show specifically catered to small and large scale domestic garment manufacturers, retailers and brands. Around 80 participants from Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Ahmedabad, Surat, Ludhiana, Tirupur, Tronica City, Chennai, Jaipur and several other parts of India came to the show and displayed latest range in ladies, kids, men’s, denim, active, sports and ethnic wear.
The show also became a budding ground for many garment exporters who are exploring the idea of retail apparel segment of India. Companies like Virender Textiles, Ruby International, Saraj, Lotus Knits, Singh Overseas and several others expressed their satisfaction over GSI as it opened new doors of opportunities and helped them in meeting potential clients from retail segment. Many well-established brands like 109F, Mystere Paris, Identiti, Shiv Naresh, Cocoberry and many others participated at the show and reported a positive feedback.
GSI was visited by all top, medium and small brands, manufacturers, online retailers, wholesalers, distributors who source all types of garments for retail stores and e-commerce channels across India.
Sourcing teams from Pantaloons, Reliance Retail, Chennai Silk, Ajio.com, Abof.com, Bindal Group, Vmart, V2, Landmark Group, Bharti Walmart, Westside, Ritu Wear, City Life Retail Ltd, Wills Lifestyle, Amazon, Snapdeal, Jabong, Myntra and many more visited the show. On the domestic front retailers, whoelsalers, distributors from small towns and cities like Meerut, Aligarh, Haridwar, Saharanpur, Guwhati, Agra, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, and many more parts of India visited the show.
The show started off with a grand inauguration done by MP Meenakshi Lekhi, R Dhamodharan, Sr. VP Sourcing, ITC Wills Lifestyle, Lalit Agarwal, CMD, VMart, Ram Chandra Agarwal, CMD, V2 Retail Limited, Ritesh Kedia – Director, City Life Retail, DeshBandhu Gupta, CMD, Vee Pee Group, Manish Kakrania, Director, Jiwan Dass & Grand Sons, City Life Retail Ltd. On the occasion Lekhi shared, “I thank the organizers for inviting me to the show, this is a good initiative taken and will definitely help the industry in going forward. GST is also going to be an important step for the garment industry and though it will look as a burden initially in the long run it will benefit.”
Gagan Marwah, Organizer, Garment show of India averred, “The show is a unique platform. It will generate lots of opportunities. The organizers have put lot of efforts in this show. This will take industry to new heightsWe are now eyeing the second edition in a bigger way, and a lot of additional features like fashion shows, conferences and seminars and we are hopeful that the next edition will be double in size both in terms of visitation and participation.”

Garment Show of India ’17 records high visitation from Tier II & III cities
Garment Show of India 2017 started on a highly enthusiastic note on a bright Sunday morning at Pragati Maidan, new Delhi. BJP President Delhi, Manoj Tiwari inaugurated the show in the presence of well-known retail chains like Will Lifestyle ITC, V-Mart, V2, Unik Bazar, Bazar India and brands like Kaira, Cactus, Fashion Factory, SNS, the press and other media.
More than 100 exhibitors, comprising leading brands and manufacturers and retailers of a variety of products like ladies tops, trousers, leggings, denims, men’s shirts, blazers, suits, trousers, T-shirts, kids’ wear, sportswear, ethnic, party and occasion wear were seen displaying their latest collections were present. Participants and brands from all garment hubs like Delhi, Noida, Jaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ludhiana, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Tirupur and many others were also seen at the show.
“Our vision is to make Garment Show of India a one-stop platform for everyone who is involved in the apparel, fashion or retail business. The idea is to bridge the gap between buyers and sellers; our exhibition has manufacturers/brands that can offer quality, fashion and competitive prices and match up with the requirements of retailers, retail chains, e-commerce companies and distributors,” said Gagan Marwah, Organiser, Garment Show of India.
Leading retail chains and the sourcing teams of Pothy’s, Chennai Silk, RMKV, Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Landmark Group, Bazar India, Reliance Trends, Unik Bazar, D mart, Amazon, LimeRoad, Snapdeal, Myntra, Westside, Bazaar Kolkata and more visited the exhibition.
More than 8,000 visitors visited the show from far and near including Delhi, NCR, Meerut, Aligarh, Kanpur, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Bihar, Gorakhpur, Haridwar, Saharanpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Panipat, Hyderabad, Trichy, Madurai, Chennai, Bangalore, Surat, Ahmedabad, etc.
‘Make in India,’ the slogan of our Hon’bl PM was also the theme of the exhibition.
Additionally, since GST is a hot topic today, a wide-ranging discussions on the issue was also conducted on Day 1 of the show. Retailers and manufacturers expressed their concern over GST rates and its impact which has been affecting market sentiments for many months now.
Notably, GSI is a venture of Saina Events, a New Delhi-based publication house that comes up with magazines like Perfect Sourcing and Apparel & Fashion. The company started GSI two years back and is seeing success due to its wide network and penetration in industry through its magazine and exhibition.

Retail biggies visit Garment Show of India 2018
The 3rd edition of Garment Show of India, the three-day event designed to provide a mega platform for domestic garment industry, was recently held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The exhibition brought products from over 100 companies varying in different genre, age group and price range to cater the variety of domestic customers’ fashion needs.
The show was inaugurated by dignitaries including HKL Magu, Chairman, AEPC, Lalit Agarwal, MD, V Mart, Ramchandra Agarwal, MD, V2 REtail, R.D Bindal from Bindal’s, P Udaykumar, Director Planning and Management from NSIC, Sudhanshu Agarwal from City Kart and many more.
HKL Magu, Chairman, AEPC, enthusiastically encouraged the digitization of all activities in the industry. He even shared his inspiring story when he began his journey in 1976 with mere Rs. 10,000 and surpassed many challenges and struggles to become the leading exporter from India who has now over 10 garment units and is serving as the Chairman of Apparel Exports Promotions Council.
While sharing his views about the exhibition Magu said, “The exhibition is a wonderful platform and opportunity for anyone who wants to expand the apparel retail business in India.”
All the dignitaries encouraged the small and medium businesses to get the aid of Indian Government with the enterprises like NSIC and MSME and expand their business on a large scale.
Sourcing teams of leading retail chains like Reliance Trends, Pothy’s , Chennai Silk, RMKV, Shoppers Stop, Westside, Walmart, Lifestyle, Landmark Group, Unik Bazar, Bazar India, V Mart, V2 Retail, Amazon, Jabong, Flipkart, Myntra, , City Kart, Incense, Bindal Group, Aditya Birla Group (Pantaloons), Flipkart and many more attended the exhibition.
The show also witnessed the presence of exhibitors from not only Delhi but also Bangalore, Kanpur, Indore, Jaipur which in turn, set a different tone of fashion and trend than the brands based in Delhi, helping more than 10,000 visitors including buyers, sellers, retailers, individuals across the India to understand the latest fashion and trend preferences of Indian market.
At the show, exhibitors showcased latest fashion in ladies tops, trousers, leggings, denims, men’s shirt, blazers, suits, trousers, t-shirts, kids wear, sportswear, sherwanis, party and occasion wear.
P. Udaykumar while commenting on the exhibition said, “This exhibition is a treasure full of solutions and with expansion through social media trade fairs have become mandatory for further penetration deeply in not just Tier I and Tier II cities but also in Tier III and Tier IV cities.”
The show was seen as an important platform for the booming apparel retail industry of India which desperately needs new avenues of growth like Garment Show of India.
